Curriculum

St. Benedict’s Curriculum Intent

Our curriculum provides a broad and balanced education for every student in our care both inside and outside of our classrooms. Every student will deepen the knowledge and skills acquired and developed at KS2 through coherent planning and incremental sequencing. This will empower them to discern their vocation and build towards a rewarding and successful future beyond KS4.

With Christ at the centre of our work and prayer, we support students’ moral, social and cultural development in a way that reflects our Catholic ethos so they take great pride in themselves, their college and their success. We also take great strides to ensure our community realises the importance of an active, healthy lifestyle and embraces the opportunities provided.

Our high expectations, combined with appropriate levels of challenge and support, will ensure all students access their learning and fulfil their potential. All our staff endeavour to develop our students’ independent learning and nurture their personal resilience so that they can be resilient and responsible citizens who strive for excellence in all they do.

We aim to provide comprehensive and up-to-date information about our curriculum to parents, carers, and other members of the public. Below, you will find links to each department’s webpage, where you can explore the programme of study for each subject.

If you do not find the information you require for a specific subject's curriculum, please contact the Head of Department via their college email address, which can be found on each departmental page.

For a full list of the Key Stage 4 GCSE courses available at the college, please use the Year 8 Pathways link at the bottom of the page. Although we do not start GCSEs in Year 9, we aim to provide as much information as early as possible to ensure our students make informed choices. The Pathways booklet will provide comprehensive information regarding all of our courses on offer, including exam specifications, resources, and other relevant information.
